Line-Up Announced!
The line-up for the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival was announced yesterday and there are some gems amongst the... other gems. Seriously, they're all good. I know. Because I've sat through the long meetings where people go on and on about how much they loved such-and-such movie. And we love them for it! Everyone here on the festival staff is very excited to swear-a-long to "Scarface", see "Lost Boys" on the big screen ("Vampires, my friend. Vampires."), make moon eyes at Angelina Jolie and/or James McAvoy in "Wanted", watch "Made in America" by the unbelievable Stacy Peralta (yes, I'm a major fan), etc. etc. etc.
For the full line-up just call me and I'll recap with additional commentary. OR go to lafilmfest.com. In fact, just do the latter, it'll save us both a lot of embarassment.
P.S. Passes are now on sale to Film Independent members and will go on sale to the public May 21st. Individual tickets will be available June 2nd.

LAFF Alums in Theaters!
We’re just over a week away from our Program Line-Up announcement, but to tide you over, here’s some news about LA Film Festival alums in theaters!
Currently playing is Young @ Heart (LAFF ’07). Stephen Walker’s documentary about a chorus of senior citizens who sing rock songs won the Audience Award for Best International Fa choruseature last year, and is being distributed by Fox Searchlight.
Coming to theatres on May 30th is The Foot Fist Way (LAFF ’06). Jody Hill’s hilarious story of a Tae Kwon Do instructor played in our Guilty Pleasures section in 2006 and is being distributed by Paramount Vantage.

Digging the magic at the LA Film Fest
Remember when you were a kid, and your friend would tell you a secret? Every time you would see someone the first thing that came to mind to talk about would be the secret. But hopefully you kept it under wraps as I am now in regards to what I know about the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival.
Two months till Opening Night on June 19, and it’s all happening. Even as I write there are ideas being tossed back and forth, names and titles being thrown out, pretzels being munched… oh wait, that last one is just me. Anyhow, soon enough the world will know ::thumping drums:: what films, what stars, what MAGIC ::lights rise:: the Los Angeles Film Festival will bestow in Westwood!
But seriously, folks:
